| The
procedure is first carried out after cleaning
the skin with acetone and alcohol. Fine
particles of aluminum oxide are used to
gently exfoliate cells of the upper layer
of the epidermis. Following this the face
is washed, towel clips are applied, Glycolic
acid is painted with a brush on the forehead,
cheeks and nose in that order. With the
appearance of faint redness and a subjective
feeling of increase in burning sensation
the glycolic acid is neutralized rapidly
and the procedure completed. Blackheads
and whiteheads (comedones) are extracted
after the peel. The process is repeated
twice at fortnightly intervals. Consequent
results are excellent without oral antibiotics
and messy creams. There is no downtime
involved and the patient can go back to
work immediately. |
